Kemani Nix
Kemani Nix born December 21, 1978 in Brooklyn, New York. The son of proud parents Laniard Nix, and the late Sondra Nix. Kemani, born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, till a young age, then moving to New Jersey, has been surrounded by music all of his life. With his father Laniard, being a pianist/organist, and his mother Sondra a vocalist, he spent countless hours in rehearsals, studio sessions, and performances as well. As a teen he began to get involved in songwriting and producing, even forming a singing group with one of his older brother’s named Seth, and eventually a rap group, with his other brother Laniard Jr. aka Scar.
Kemani always looked up to and followed Scar’s every move for guidance in life. They were inseparable through smooth and hard times. This bond would be tested through the next years. In ’1993 tragedy hit, when one of Kemani’s aunt passed away. In ‘1994 tragedy hit again, when Kemani’s mother passed away, and yet again in ‘1995 another aunt, died. Needless to say the family was devastated, Kemani and Scar were closer than ever. They began writing, recording, and producing songs with a newfound drive. This drive would be short lived though, because on December 28, 1996, a week to the day after Kemani’s 18th birthday, tragedy hit yet again, when Scar was murdered. At this time, Kemani felt devastated and cursed, as if his life presented him nothing to live for. This devastation, of how his guiding star, meaning Scar, would no longer be with him, gave him more determination. He thought, if Scar were alive to see the way he'd given up, he would never hear the end of his outrage! This was now Kemani's driving force...This was Scar's light! So he started to write songs again, and continue producing music, only with more determination.
