In January of 2004, five boys from various towns throughout Maryland introduced their newly completed band, Underscore, to the world for the very first time. Matthew Flyzik [vocals], Jason Tipton [bass], Phil Moy [ guitar and vocals], Ryan Sherrill [guitar], and Paul Martinez [drums] make up what is known today as Underscore. It took two years of name switching, line up changes, and various other adjustments for Underscore to finally settle down and feel complete. Previously Underscore released and EP and a full length before the addition of Flyzik. When Flyzik joined in January the band immediately released a 6 song EP (The Summer EP), and have toured the East Coast twice, since. The EP they toured on was released independently in February 2004. The demo blended all the elements of pop punk, emo, and hardcore, which created a sound that can only be defined by Underscore. The distinct sound that is Underscore is a result of talent, hard work, strong musicianship, and influence from bands such as Saves The Day, The Movielife, Taking Back Sunday, and A New Found Glory. Underscore continue to grow each and everyday and have developed a strong and increasing fan base, as well as record label interest. Currently the group is in the studio recording a full length with recording engineer, Paul Levitt: Over It [Lobster Records], Don’t Look Down [Nitro Records], Stars Hide Fire [Isurrender Records], Bury Me Standing [Island Def Jam
