Van Halen broke all the rules. With their catchy lyrics and fast guitar solos, the boys dominated the rock industry. Guitarist Eddie Van Halen did what most people attempted to do. He took guitar playing to a whole new level with his fast pace, adrenaline rushing, over the top solos. It matched perfectly with David Lee Roth\'s amazing lyrics and stage performance. David could put on a show like no other before him.Alex Van Halen could pound on those drums almost as good as Eddie could strum his guitar.Last but not least there\'s the bassist, Michael Anthony.Although he is not recognized as much as David and Eddie,he is still one of the most talented people in the industry.Eddie and Alex each started playing instruments at a young age and often played in high school bands. Back then,Eddie usually did the singing. But by the mid 70\'s the boys met up with Dave and Mike and together they formed Van Halen.Throughout their carrer they had numerous #1 hits.Such as \"Jump\",\"Hot for Teacher\",\"Runnin\' with the Devil\",and \"Jamie\'s Cryin.\" The band got instant overwhelming success. But all things must come to an end. David Lee Roth split on the rest of the guys, leaving them with no lead singer. But in 1985,Sammy Hagar joined the band and their next album,5150, took them to the #1 spot of the on all of the charts.Every other album they put out with Sammy reached to the top. But after many years, the boys of Van Halen found themselves looking for a new lead singer once again.That\'s when they scooped up Gary Cherone. They made an album, but this time it did not go as well as they had hoped and it was proclaimed the worst selling album Van Halen had ever put out.Gary was immediatley dismissed from the band. Rumors began to spread saying that David Lee Roth was coming back for a reunion with Van Halen. In Early 2001, Dave confirmed the rumors.Right after David\'s news,Eddie admitted to the public that he was fighting cancer. He announced however, that his doctors said he had a very good chance for a complete recovery.Months later, the band left their label. The label had still not found a replacement for Gary and they were no longer considering Dave.
