| Vio System Divide's "A Subliminal Spirit to the Spatiotemporal Extremity" is a catchy and interesting chunk of modern thrash metal. The band, hailing from Japan, obviously has a deep love for the genre and has been paying attention to headbangers on the western side of the globe. The instrumentals are heavy, thrashy and hooky and the vocals are multi-styled. On the one hand you've got deep, throaty bellows; on the other hand you've got clean, melodic vocals. In the middle are the sort of heavy-ass sung thrash vocals. The band really does a good job of capturing the flavor of the modern thrash scene and these guys obviously know how to blend int he melodies without compromising the heavy component. The lyrics, by the way, are in English and they are sometimes quite interesting. I've always been a little fascinated by hearing English constructions coming from the mouths of our neighbors in the East. Now, bear in mind, I am in no way making fun. It's just that the English langu!
age takes on an interesting style sometimes when spoken/written by someone in the East for whom English is a second language. All of that blabbering to say that I like the lyrics and find them intriguing. Ultimately, what's important is that Vio System Divide is a damn good thrash band and you should really give them a listen.
