Imagine if Dancehall artist Sean Paul had the ability to rap like Jay-Z or vice vera. Wouldn't that be something?! That would be taking music to heights it has never been before. Vursitile is the new phenomenon in music. A full-blown Hip Hop Reggae artist. Vursitile, whose real name is Tishawn T. Clarke, was born and raised in Waterhouse, Kingston, Jamaica. Waterhouse is commonly known to have produced many successful artists, for instance, Beenie Man, Shabba Ranks, Baby Cham, Junior Reid and the famous Producers King Jammy and King Tubby.
Vursitile moved to Canada at the age of 15. His love for Hip Hop would grow as a result, especially since he was able to hone his linguistic skills, balancing Canadian English with Jamaican Patois. Linguistically, Vursitile has the ability to sing Hip Hop like any American-born Hip Hop artists and Reggae with fluent Jamaican patois and still manage to make his music relevant. "They don't call me Vursitile for nothing, you put me pon any beat and I got something to say, I'll make it hot even if the beat flop, si mi". He did 2 years of high school then moved on to University. All through these periods, Vursitile had little time to focus on music since he had to work full time while attending school.
Vursitile pulls on a number of things from well- established artists to make his music work- artists like Bob Marley, Sizzla, Bounty Killer, Biggie, Tupac, The Game, Sean Paul, and Jay-Z. The stance for justice, equality, and freedom from Bob, the raw but consciousness from Sizzla, the hardcore-rude boy, defend the poor stance from Bounty, the razor sharp lyricism from both Biggie and Jay-Z, the resistance to the system and the fight to make sense of ghetto lifestyles from Tupac, the independence and ambitiousness the Game displays, the orientation of making music that appeal to women from Sean. Combine all these Legends into one and you have Vursitile, bringing music to a new era, being a full-fledged Reggae, Dancehall, Hip Hop artist.
The future looks bright for Vursitile, who has an extensive amount of material. Vursitile will be releasing an EP that will be available for download soon, followed by the release of his long anticipated Album. At 20 years old, Vursitile is ready to take “his” place in music, make a name for himself and most importantly, put Jamaica and Canada on the Hip Hop map. |
