War was formed in 1969 in Long Beach, CA. War is a rock band that plays many different styles. One is funk. They were one of the most popular funk bands in the 1970's. Some other styles they play are brown-eyed soul, latin rock, and soul. They were raised in Southern California. One of their influences came from the R&B band, The Creators. Their most recognized album is their self-titled.
