| West of Yesterday is a musical endeavor that combines the lyrical and musical talents of Laurence (Pepi) Capezzone and Mick Sunter. Sometimes the creation of original music is for commercial purposes, sometimes to satisfy a desire to express oneself, and sometimes for the pure enjoyment of sharing the experience and the passion for song writing.
West of Yesterday's debut CD Dancing With Angels is a collection of songs inspired by life's experiences and by life itself. It is the result of crossed paths, and the unselfish contributions of the musicians that participated in the CD.
It was during a short lived weekly get together of musicians down at a barely heated boathouse by the Sound in Guilford, CT USA during the winter of 1998 that Laurence and Mick crossed paths and began to travel down a road together towards today. Shortly after that time they became part of a local cover band. Known as Suburban Lawnchair, the group performed throughout southern Connecticut for a period of five years.
Laurence played acoustic guitar and was the lead vocalist. Mick played bass and ran the sound system. Shortly after the band retired in 2004 they began to develop their mutual passion for creating original music. During that time Mick dabbled in recording and eventually went on to establish Lawnchair Productions recording studio.
Laurence's talents as a lyricist inspires the effort now known as West of Yesterday. It is the combined passion for creating original music, story telling, heartfelt expression, and the joy of sharing the song writing and recording experience that drives the efforts of this group. Whether its the unpolished vocal track recorded the day after a late night gig, or the smiles in the studio while singing backup to Big Alice, or the crack in a vocal during an emotional recording of Dancing with the Angels, its all meant to be heard. Its all meant to be felt.
Its not about perfection.. its about the song, the moment. Its about the roads we travel, what we have at our fingertips at any given time, and an appreciation for life and where it has led to... today.
