Willa Ford was born Amanda Lee Williford on January 22, 1981 in Ruskin, Florida. The singer realized she had a talent early on. AT the young age of eight, Ford began singing in the Tampa Bay Children’s Choir. When she turned eleven, she joined Entertainment Revue. The Tampa-based singing group consisted of 20 girls ranging in age from five to 16. The group sang at fairs, conventions, Walt Disney World, and Busch Gardens. At fifteen years old, Ford joined a vocal quartet titled, FLA. She soon left in order to pursue a solo career. Ford, at this time, was performing under the name Mandah. She soon signed to MCA. The record company hoped to promote the beautiful singer as a having a ‘good girl image.’ The label also changed her name to Willa Ford, fearing ‘Mandah’ would confuse people with Mandy Moore. After negative publicity of Ford, MCA dropped her. She was then signed to Atlantic Records. The label did not seem to mind the singer’s not-s—good image. They even promoted it. In 2001, Ford released her debut album, Willa Was Here. The album contained the single (with a highly sexual video), “I Wanna Be Bad.” Although Ford is beautiful and has talent, her popularity has not boomed. This is probably because of her former relationship with Backstreet Boy nick Carter. In fact, on the released of her debut album, three anti-Willa sites appeared on the internet.
