| Xvektor has been creating its unique brand of Abstract Soundscapes for 4 years, drawing from its 3 members' vast and diverse musical influences. The bulk of our work is in the Progressive Noise/Abstract Soundscape Genre. Our compositions generally bear little resemblence to music as such, but consist of intertwining patterns, soaring tonal passages, percussive sections and melodic elements as well as occasional vocal loops and sound-bites. Xvektor began as an experimental collaborative project for creating abstract tone and rhythm compositions. Utilizing synthesizer, guitars, voices, violin, harmonicas, computer software and various other sound generating and processing devices the collaborative mixes rhythmic elements with vocal loops, guitar sections and an occassional beat section to create structures that seem chaotic and familiar simultaneously.
It was a challenge to find songs that were under 7 Megs to place on this site, as most of our compositions are longer, so we placed short sections of some of our longer works. 'China' for instance, was meant to be an intro to one of Jeff's songs for his band Saragashum. Jeff, however, decided to disband Saragashum to explore his new Chapman stick and all of its potentials, so the song will have to stand alone for now. 'Violent Harmonicas' is the first section of a much longer piece called 'Chime Factory Suite' and is our first attempt to include the harmonica into our sound. 'Shimmering Chain' is an older song and used to be a part of a longer piece, but we decided that there were some parts that we wanted to improve upon, so we took this section to add to I Sound.
