New York\'s art-punk trio Yeah Yeah Yeahs concise of singer Karen O, guitarist Nicolas Zinner, and drummer Brian Chase. Karen met Brian at Ohio\'s Oberlin College and met Nicolas by friends after they transferred to N.Y.U. Nicolas and Karen created the band in 2000 and Brian joined when their first drummer left. Yeah Yeah Yeahs wrote a varity of songs for their first rehearsal and soon supported the Strokes and the White Stripes, earning a reputation for their crazy but sexy garage punk sound. In late 2001, Yeah Yeah Yeahs released their self-titled debut EP. They recorded it with Boss Hog\'s Jerry Teel, on their own Shifty label. The next year the band became international celebrities, appearing at South by Southwest, touring the U.S. with Girls Against Boys. The touring Europe with Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. In between tours, the group put the finishing touches on their full-length debut, which was expected to have a fall 2002 release.
